What does an AI consulting engagement look like?

Our engagements run in four phases: Discovery (we map your processes and identify high-impact AI opportunities), Strategy (we build a prioritized roadmap with ROI modeling), Build (our engineering team builds the solution), and Deploy (we integrate, test, go live, and hand over documentation). Most projects run 2–8 weeks depending on scope.

How much does an AI consulting project cost?

Every project is scoped individually based on complexity, integrations, and timeline. We don't publish fixed pricing because a simple automation workflow and a custom AI application are very different investments. What we do offer is a free 30-minute strategy call to scope your project before any commitment is made.

Do you work with small businesses or only enterprise?

Both. We work with companies of every size — from 5-person teams to mid-market organizations. The engagement is scoped to fit the business, not the other way around. Some of our most impactful projects have been with smaller companies where a single well-targeted automation produces an outsized result.

How long does a typical project take?

Most automation and AI projects run 2–6 weeks from kickoff to deployment. Consulting-only engagements (strategy and roadmap, no build) typically run 2–3 weeks. More complex custom AI development projects can run 6–12 weeks. We give honest timelines during scoping — not optimistic estimates.

Will AI actually work for my business?

Not always — and we'll tell you if it won't. Before we recommend an AI investment, we run through our five-question assessment framework to determine whether the problem is a good fit, whether you have the data to support it, and whether the ROI justifies the cost. We'd rather tell you AI isn't the right answer than build something that doesn't deliver value.

What's the difference between AI automation and regular software automation?

Traditional automation handles structured, predictable processes — fixed inputs, fixed rules, fixed outputs. AI automation handles variability: unstructured data, judgment calls, natural language, and edge cases that rules can't cover. We have deep experience in healthcare, pharma, financial services, professional services, and e-commerce. Tyler brings extensive martech and automation experience from pharma and healthcare. Justin has built automation systems in healthcare environments where accuracy and compliance are non-negotiable. That said, most AI automation patterns apply across industries — the underlying problems are often more similar than they appear.

Where is FlexDev AI Labs based?

FlexDev AI Labs is a distributed team. Tyler Roy (CEO) is based in Atlanta, GA and Justin Grant (CTO) is based in Miami, FL. We work with clients across the United States and are set up to work remotely with any organization regardless of location.

What happens after the project is deployed?

We don't disappear after launch. Every deployment includes documentation and training so your team can operate the system independently. We also offer ongoing monitoring and support engagements for clients who want continued involvement after go-live. AI systems need maintenance and periodic retraining — we build that expectation into every engagement from the start.

Do I need technical expertise to work with you?

No. We work with business owners, operations leaders, and executives who understand their business deeply but don't have technical backgrounds. Our job is to translate business problems into technical solutions — and to explain every decision in plain language throughout the engagement.
